- Arden A. Vance 1931 ~ 2007 Arden A. Vance, age 76, beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, passed away on March 29, 2007. He was born on March 18, 1931 to Giles and Erda Vance in Fountain Green, Utah. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Arden served a mission in Denmark. Upon his return he married Gay Smith in the Salt Lake temple for time and all eternity. Arden worked as a finance officer for the U.S. Government in Veterans Affairs. He prepared tax returns for many years and made life long friends while working at the Church Office Building. Favorite family memories include camping, fishing, and yearly road trips to Disneyland in California. His traditional Christmas fruitcakes will be missed by many. Arden is survived by his wife, Gay; and children Ron (Patti) Vance, Dwayne (Cheryl) Vance, Mindy (Jeff) Valdez, Natalie (Howard) Hurd, Marci (TJ) Staples, Heidi Vance; 17 grandchildren that loved and adored their grandpa, and sisters Helen Reynolds, and Gayle (Howard) Yerke. Preceded in death by parents, Giles and Erda Vance, mother-in-law Jeanne Audrey Smith, wife of Patriarch Eldred G. Smith; and many other loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the West Jordan Utah Stake Center (2666 W. 7000 S.). Friends may call from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Mon., April 2, at Redwood Memorial Mortuary (6500 S. Redwood Rd.) and again at 10 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment at Redwood Memorial Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many doctors and nurses that treated him over the years as well as the Home Health nurses and Hospice doctor and nurses. Their care was deeply appreciated.
