So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

Benjamin Chapman! Oh, Benjamin! You are definitely the winner of the mystery contest. Family members have been searching the records for your whereabouts for years. Some have even promised to return from beyond the veil if possible, to give us information about you. We have questions for which we need answers. 1) Were you really born in Readsboro or were you born in Belchertown? 2) Was Welcome your first or second son? 3) Was Isaac Benjamin really your son? 4)
What is the spelling of your first daughter's name, Panfis, Percy or what? 5) If you owned land, why didn't you list the name of your wife as did most husbands. 6) When and where did you and Sibyl die?
What cemetery could we find your tombstones?
The first actual record of Benjamin, that I have found, is the date of his marriage to Sybil Amidon on September 9, 1802 at Readsboro, Bennington, Vermont The ceremony was performed by Elijah
Bailey. A child was born to Benjamin and Sibel Chapman Mar 17 1803. The child was a daughter named Panfis. Benjamin was listed on the town records as having "0-oxen, 1 cow
      and 40 on May 18, 1809. "

There is a Benjamin Chapman listed on the Federal Census of 1820 in Madison, Madison, New York
having 2 male children under 10 years, 1 female under 10 years, 2 females between 16-26 years and a female between 26-45. On the 1830 for Madison, Madison, New York there is a Sybil Chapman
      listed, (no husband) 1 male child 5-10 years, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-20, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 5-10 years 1 female 10-15, none 15-30, 1 female 40-50. We have no proof this is our family.
There are land transactions in Onondaga County in 1818 and 1821 for a Benjamin Chapman, but no wife listed, so again we do not know whether this is our family.
