So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

Richard Risley born August 2, 1648.
Married prior to 1668 probably when he and his wife were" admitted to full communion in the First Church of Hartford." In 1683 there is a record there, that three of their children
were baptized in this church. Under date of May, 1687, it appears they had children baptized whose names are obliterated.
The following appears in the baptismal record:.
" Child to Richard Risley: Mary daughter to Richard Risley baptized April 23rd, 1693: Hannah (Anna or Anner), baptized April 12th, 1695."
The defective church record and the interim of time between marriage and birth and baptism records may be explained by the fact that Richard and wife lived on the east side of the " Great River," south of the Hockanum river both of which rivers must be crossed by boats.
Richard is named in the Will of Thomas Burnham Oct. 11 th, 1688, (Vol. V., p. 87-8
Richard was named as one of the overseers in the will of William Hills Dec., 1698, (Vol V., p. 168-170).
Richard was a witness to the will of Phillip Moore, sr, 16th of April, 1698, (Vol V, p. 207-8).
Richard gave a mortgage to Sarah Haynes, widow and gave a deed of the same property to Mary Haynes who was the wife of Deacon John Haynes of the First Church of East Hartford.
Richard on March 16th, 1716, gave a deed to Jeremiah Risley, in which he describes himself as " senior."
(Sec, 1 Hartford Probate Record (Mannwaring) p. 70-
      81).
The name of Richard's wife has not been discovered. Their children were, dates and order of births being unknown.
      1. John.
      2. Samuel.
      3. Thomas; d. in New Jersey; no issue, sec. will.
      4. Nathaniel
      5. Jonathan
      6. Richard, Jr
      7. Jeremiah,
      8. Charles; no children known.
      9. Mary; baptized April 28, 1693 (nothing known).
      10. Hannah (Anna or Anner?); baptized April 12th, 1695.

The following from William Risley His Ancestral Lines, and His Descendants, Page 5:
Richard Risley bought 330 acres 6 June 1682 and about 252 acres at Hockanum, 29 Feb. 1683/84 from the estate of Jeremy Adams, "Conn. Hist. Society Collections 14:33-41. Jeremy Adams was his wife's grandfather.
Richard Risley gave testimony, 20 May 1726 that "my father (in-law), John Adams, formerly of Hartford, deceased, had 7 children; 4 sons and three daughters...I married one of ye Daughters...ye sisters are all deceased." (New England Historical and Genealogical Register). The probate of the estate of John Adams in November calls his daughter Rebeckah, aged 12 yrs.in Aug. last (Manwaring's Digest).
Although most of the children were not recorded in town or church records, there can be no doubt that the Risleys of the next generation were childen of Richard and Rebecca. (American Genealogist, Oct 1949).
