- Dallas Morning News, February 24, 1946: Wedding announcement for Beulah McClenny lists Miss Helen Britt as the bride's attendant. Dallas Morning News, March 3, 1946: Helen Britt, Lt. Mitchell Will Marry Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Britt, 404 East Sixth, have announced the approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Helen Britt, to Lt. W. K. Mitchell, son of Mrs. Mary Mitchell, Santa Barbara, Calif. Lieutenant Mitchell is now stationed at Love Field with the Army Air Forces. The wedding will take place Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Oak Cliff Methodist Church, with Dr. Harrison Baker officiating. Miss Britt will be given in marriage by the father. Mrs. S. E. Risinger will be matron of honor and Joe Florea of Columbia, Mo., will be best man. Ushers will be Lt. Johnny Mock and Ted Brit, Hentry Britt, and Joe Britt, brothers of the bride-to-be. Music will be presented by Mrs. Forrest Reed, organist, and Lewis Moore, soloist. Miss Britt is a former student of Crozier Technical High School. Her fiance attended Santa Barbara High School. He served with the 14th Air Force in the China-Burma-India theater of war." When she was young she enjoyed knitting and camping. First in a 9- by 12-foot tent then a pop-up tent tent trailer then a mini motor home. Many enjoyable times were spent in Colorado with her sisters' families and her kids. She and Mitch belonged to the Channel Islands Good Sam Club and enjoyed many camp-outs with this club. Helen was a dyed-in-the-wool Angels fan and took in every TV game that she could. Helen was a loving wife mother and grandmother and was ready to give anyone a helping hand when needed. She is survived by her husband Walker K. Mitchell; son Gerald B. (wife Gail) Mitchell of Alice Springs Australia; daughter Susan Heinkel of Ventura; son Ray (wife Judy) Mitchell of Oxnard; four grandchildren; sister Gertrude (husband Red) Meadows of Salem Ala.; brother Fred (wife Agnes) Britt of Waco Texas; sister Mary (husband James) Wesner of Hemet; sister Doris (husband James) of Dallas Texas. A memorial service will be held in Newhall in January. The family would like to thank Dr. Alexis Canbaris; nurses Art Alvardo and Denny Yambo; and nurse Amie for their compassion and help at this time. The family suggests a memorial donation to the American Lung Association 1510 San Andres St. Santa Barbara CA 93101-4104 in Helen's name. Arrangements are by the Neptune Society. Her ashes will be scattered at sea by Helen's family.
