    • They had three sons and four daughters. Alva was a genial man and never was sick until the sickness preceding his death. He possessed remarkable energy in his old age. and He lived in Sublette, Illinois which is southeast of Amboy, Illinois on route 52 by 7 miles. In the census of China township Lee county, Illinois 20 Sept 1850 they have Alva listed as age 54 born Pa.; Clara age 49 born New York; Statvia age 25 born Pa.; Eunace age 18 born Pa.; Betsey age 14 born Pa.; Jessee age 14 born Pa.; and William H. age 12 born Pa. Record from the History of Lee county, 1881; Nashua township: Alvah Hale came at an early day and entered a claim on Section 33 in the township, Lee county, Illinois. In the Fall of 1845 Alva and Clara Hale removed to Lee county, and settled at Temperance Hill, in China township. About 1855 they changed their home to Sublette township, Lee county, Illinois He died at Osceola Mills, Wisconsin at his son-in-law's place in 1881. This was in the Amboy newspaper of 27 April 1881. Heart Disease. He is buried in Prairie Repose which is located at the north west edge of Amboy, Illinois. Graves are located in Section 1.
