So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

Brookfield Gazette, Brookfield, Missouri, Saturday, 6 August 1910, Page x, column 2 and 3: Death Of An Old Citizen ---- Charlesd Jillette Hale Enters Into Final Rest ---- Charles J. Hale, an old, well known and highly reespected citizen of Grantsvill township for many years, later a citizen of Purdin, who passed away at his home at Purdin, Thursday, July 28, was a native of the state of Pensylvania, born December 23, 1823. He came to Linn county in 1867, purchasing land in Grantsville township. Like his brother, the late Judge Silas Hale, he took an active and intelligent interest in county and township affairs and was an active and influential worker in the councils of his chosen political party. In the days when linneus used to hold some dicidedly interesting agricultural fairs, Mr. Hale was one of the most efficient workers and managers, and if we remember correctly, served as president of the association a number of years. He was a lover of martial music and many people will remember the interested crowd trhat would gather around the "Hale family band," of which he was head and fifer, when they would drive on the grounds as Old Settlers' reunions or at other gathering, and strike up with fife and drum. This band, by the way, played for its own amusement and the amusement of others, and not for pay. The funeral took place at Grantsville Friday, Rev. F. Austin Henry, of Linnens, conducted the services. The surviving members of Mr. Hale's family are Leander, Jessie R. and Chas. H., residents of Purdin, and Silas A., of Barnes, Oklahoma, who have the consolation of knowing that the father and friend who has passed away was an honest man, a good neighbor, an upright citizen of stainlkess reputation.
