So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • On his WWI records of Sept. 1`2, 1918 he is short height, medium build, brown hair and eyes. In 1920 census they are living in Franklin Grove, Illinois. He is a garage Owner In 1930 they are still there and he is in Auto Sales (probably with his brother) He is buried with Arthur Guy in Section 1 of Prairie Repose cemetery at Amboy, Illinois. Biographies of the Citizens of Lee County Illinois, page 556, Lee County Genealogy Society: Winn S. Wasson .... Arthur's son, Winn, worked for a time as a railroad engineer in Lee Center, and later on lived with his iwfe and children (Virgil, Robert, Eugene, and Elizabeth) in Franklin Grove. There he worked in partnership with his brother Guy at the Wasson Brothers' Garage, which was located next door to what is now the new-refurbished Lincoln Building in Franklin Grove. Winn repaired and sold cars (in those days, salesmen would come to customers' houses to show them the car) while Guy sold cars and collected payments from people owing the business money (as Winn disliked doing so). In the 1920's, the business briefly expanded to open up in Dixon as well. The Wassons sold Chrysler and Maxwell automobiles, and advertised their product using pencils which read "The man who buys a Maxwell makes no mistakes" (this pencil had no eraser). Winn's son, Virgil would often help at the garage when he was in high school. While his father was out selling cars, Virgil would manage the shop. Virgil was born in Amboy, but when he was very young, Virgil's family moved to Lee Center followed by Franklin Grove. Upon graduating from high school, Virgil worked for a few years to save up money for college. After attending Northern Illinois Teachers College, he taught for two years around Amboy and Ashton. In 1939, he joined the Merchant Marines and worked up in the Great Lakes on the ore boats. He worked there until 1944. He was able to capitalize on some of his experiences on the boats (especially those dealing with machines powered by high pressure steam) in order to gain employment at Commonwealth Edison, where he worked from 1945 until his retirement in 1976. In 1943, he married Eva May Rhodes. When they first met, Virgil worked in a men's clothing store; he would often stand outside in the afternoon while the teachers from the high school walked by. However, before she got to know him thru riding on fan buses to sporting events with him, Eva and her friends thought he was just making eyes with the girls. After fifty-seven years together, they have raised four children: Terry, Robert "Woody', Jeff, and Toni. Currently, both Eva and Virgil still reside in Dixon in the same house in which they have lived since 1946. Terry, who resides in Dixon, works for Dixon Public Schools and is married to Denton Swarts; they have two children, both of whom are grown: Shaun and Tracey (married Carl Tierney). Woody, who also resides in Dixon, also works for Dixon Public Schools and is married to Barbara Witt; they have three children of ages 23, 20, and 17: Paige, Courtney, and Winn. Jeff who resides in Sterling, works for the Sterling Police department and is married to Kelly Croy Conway; they have raised three children: Joe Conway, Aaaron, and Conner. Toni, who resides in Durand, worls at Beloit College. Submitted by Winn W. Wasson
