So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • Sallan House - Holy Roman Empire General survey (Dates vary) Henry III, powerful and pious, was the second Emperor of the Salian House, which had succeeded the Saxon by the choice of the nobles. In 1046 he invaded Italy, purified the Papacy by deposing three rival Popes and installed a German Bishop of Rome (Clement II), who was devoted to the principles of reform which had developed in Burgundy and the Rhineland and are loosely known as the Cluniac movement. His early death was doubly unfortunate, for it exposed his son to a turbulent minority and to the growing ecclesiastical pressure of the reformed papacy: from this sprang the destructive Investiture Contest. Henry IV was at one moment threatened by an anti-king, Rudolph of Swabia; more important, royal control of Germany was seriously weakened by civil war. On the death of Henry V the Salian family became extinct; he had been married to Matilda, only daughter of Henry I of England.
