So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

  • Notes
    • In the U.S. 1880 Census we find that John Reed Blanchard's occupation was that of a Shoe Maker.

John Reid Blanchard was born in Boston Massachusetts, 18 January 1795. After arriving in Salt Lake City, he was chosen to go out to meet the Saints as they entered the valley. This was how he met Sarah Potts. They were married when she was 15 years old.

After Sarah left John Reid, he was talked into going to Oregon, and then Montana. When he became too old to travel, he came to Logan to stay at the hotel owned by one of his sons, John R. Blanchard, Jr. The hotel was known as the Blanchard House.

One morning, he didn’t appear for breakfast and he was found dead in his bead. He died at the age of 89 and is buried in the Logan City Cemetery.
