    • Downers Grove Reporter-Wednesday, November 16, 1983, page 14A, Column 5: Elsie M. Harper -- Funeral services for Elsie M. (Steib) Harper, 87, were held on Thursday, Nov. 10, 1983, at 11 a.m. at the Adams-Winterfield funeral Home with the Rev. Roland T. Bizer of St. Paul's United Church of Christ officiating. (Congregational) Mrs. Harper was born in Ohio on Oct. 1, 1896. She died on Monday, Nov.7, 1983, at Plymouth Place (Retirement Village off of Ogden Avenue North on LaGrange) in LaGrange Park. A former Downers Grove resident, Mrs. Harper was a retired employee of B.& Q. R.R. of Chicago, where she had been a secretary. She was a 50-year member of Vesta Chapter 242 O.E.S. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Harper. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Interment was in the Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Westmont, Illinois She is buried in grave 2, Lot 4b, Block H, Section Y, age 87 buried 11-10-83 Her parents came from Germany, her father, John Staib in 1877 and the mother, Rosina in 1874 By 1900 there were 7 children and all alive.
