She was born Stonington, Conn, 15 Sept 1697, daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Ashby) Utley. Note 122: Barbour Collecgion note 13 citing Stonington Vital Recoreds, 1:80, Stonington, Connecticut Probate District File 5439, probate of Samuel Utley Joseph and Sarah Ross were on the list of communicants of the Windham Congregational Church in 1726. Sarah was a founding member of the Windham Third Society (Scotland Congregational Church) in 1732.. Joseph was probably too.
