So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • In Nov.1962, Rev. John Ness, curator and historian for the United Bretheran Church, was giving a talk about the careers of three sons of Henry and Sarah Goss Kephart, at the Clearfield County Historical Society. Here is the talk--

" I expected to come here tonight and talk about two members of the Kephart family--research has uncovered a third brother who also rose to prominence in our church. It is a high tribute to a home and very exceptional ,when three of its sons are called to the ministry, and by endowment and training are qualified for promotion to places of power and influence in the highest circles of the Church. Such is the distinction given this trio of illustrious leaders-Isaiah Lafayette, Cyrus Jeffries and Ezekial Boring Kephart. They were born and reared on the Kephart farm,Decatur Twp., near Osceola Mills , in the 1832 -1852 period. All three entered colleges after the meager education offered in the county's early days"

After summing up each career, which combined teaching, preaching, writing and honorary degrees, he summed up ..

P" Each illustrious son stood upon his own merits and became recognized for his own particular strength-Dr. Isaiah Kephart won distinction for his writing and editorial abilities.Bishop Ezekial Kephart was a master of Parliamentary procedure and church law. Bishop Cyrus Kephart was considered one of the strongest pulpit men in the denomination." Continue in Part 2 by Carole Brown

The source seems to be a local newspaper article from Clearfield Co,Pa.There are many stories and sources, written by relatives in the county. One of them shows some genealogy and gives glimpses into daily lives of both the Goss and Kephart families. One is by Horace Kephart. They both served in the Revolution, were given land for their service and were friends. They intermarried into each others families frequently.

What makes this family so remarkable is, at least the mother, Sarah Goss , was ILLITERTE! Her children taught her to read and write when she decided to let them . Many descendants of both Goss and Kephart families have joined the DAR and SAR....including my husband, Dr. William C. Brown. They are both his great5 grandparents.

Excellent source for extended genealogy on Kephart family , to 850 AD, is the "DANISH ROYAL SKIOLDUNG GENEALOGY OF CERTAIN GEBHARDT FAMILIES' BY Calvin Kephart, genealogist and past president of the National Genealogicsl Society, pub 1950, Shady Side, Md.19 pages
