They [Adam & Catherine (Reese) Emenhiser] were born inPennsylvania and later moved to Ohio and reared the followingchildren: Joseph, Stephen, John, Mary, Margaret, Elizabeth and Adam[father of Milan], the youngest. [Nancy not mentioned] Joseph, Stephen, Mary, Margaret and Adam [not John or Nancy]moved with their father to Indiana and settled fourteen milessoutheast of Fort Wayne, on a heavy timbered tract of land. It had tobe cleared of the timber before they could build their houses andbarns. About 1850. Uncle Joseph Emenhiser's tract of land joined my father's, AdamEmenheiser's tract on the South; 120 acres each. Grandfather's andAunt Mary's tract joined my father's tract on the north and AuntMargaret's tract joined Grandfather's and Aunt Mary's on the north.Uncle Stephen's tract was across the road east of Aunt Margaret'stract. A railroad was built about 1876 through Uncle Stev's tract anda town built on his place called Hoagland. Grandfather [Adam Emenhiser] died about 1869.
