So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • !FAMILY NOTES: John Savage was an original settler of Middletown Upper House (later named Cromwell) Connecticut. His name is listed in seventh on list of members who orginized the First Congregational Church of Middletown. He held the military rank of Sergeant.
On an early map of the Upper House his property is shown as being on the south side of South Street, where it meets River Road, which at that timme was the main road to Middletown. He owned just over 1200 acres. He is buried in the Old Cemetery (also known as the Riverside Cemetery) lying next to the Connecticut River. Apparently, of all the founders Nathaniel White and David Sage have headstones. On his will dated 22 Nov 1684 he signed his name John Savidg.
      1650-1 He sailed for Boston
Middletown was first settled in 1650 on both north and south of the Sebethe or Little Rive and
was called Mattabeseck. The name of the settlement was changed in 1653 to Middletown. In
1680 the section of the town north of the river (where John Savage lived) became known as
Upper Houses Middletown or Middletown Upper Houses. The Upper Houses were incorporated
into a separate town in 1851 and is now known as Cromwell
      1652-married Hartford Ct.
      1654-"Made Free" on May 18
All John's children were born in Upper Houses.
1668-John and Elizabeth were founding members of the First Church in Middletown. There was no
church in Upper Houses at the time. Riverside Cemetery was behind this church. John and
Elizabeth were probably buried in this cemetery, as it was the only cemetery at the time. There
are no gravestones for them, which isn’t surprising after 300 years. Over the years this old
cemetery has been eroded and encroached on by the railroad. Many of the old stones are very
worn and unreadable. Now days it is very well taken care of and the gate is kept locked
1675-Will and original land Plat map from 1675 showing lots of original landowners of Settlers of
Middletown Ct. -(another researcher had copies of)
      1684-Died Middlesex Ct.
1696-16 Nov- his estate was divided, so wife had probably died.
John Savage of Hartford was married to Elizabeth Dubbin ye Tenth day of Febru. One thousand, six hundred and fifty two."
