So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

    • DEATH PLACE Monasterio Cistercio, Algerica, Aragon, Spain He was a child when his father was killed. Pope Innocent III persuaded Simon de Montfort to deliver the child to him and Aragonese and Catalan notables, who in 1214 presented him to an assembly of prelates, barons, and representative townsmen at Lerida to revive their professions of fidelity. He was in the custody of the Templars at Monzon and his uncle Sanc supervised the regency. He married, first, Eleanor of Castile. This marriage was annulled in 1229. In 1235 he married, second, Yolande, daughter of Andrew II, King of Hungary. He spent the early years of his reign in conflict with the barons. By 1228 he was ready to renew the reconquest. The first target was Majorca, where he landed on September 9, 1229 with 150 ships, an army of 800 knights and 1,000 foot soldiers. They beseiged the city until it fell on December 31. He went on to add Valencia to his kingdom. In 1275 he had a Saracen rebellion. Yolande died in 1251 and James died at Valencia July 27, 1276.
