Notes |
- Bill was really good with horses. He could train them so that at thelift of his cowboy hat the horse would rear up on its hind legs. He wasoffered a movie contract, but turned it down because he was engaged to aMormon girl who said not to take the contract. She then turned him downfor marriage and married someone else right away. He never married norhad children. Living in the mountains he was never taught to read andwrite. He always had to get someone else to read and write for him. Hewas very smart. He was very serious about another girl in Richfield,Idaho and they had talked about marriage. She wrote to Bill, but Helenread the letters to Bill and wrote letters back for Bill. Then Helentook upon herself to write a letter telling the girl that Bill neverwanted to see her again. Helen did this because she thought the girl tobe wild and not good enough to marry her brother. The girl married a manlater and was a really good wife and mother to the man she married.Without being able to read and write he was always at the mercy ofsomeone else. After these two losses he started to drink and became"Wild Bill" an alcoholic and just roamed around. He worked onconstruction and as a cowboy. Bill was six foot tall, wavy brown hair, double row of long eyelashes that looked fake, and had even white teeth. He was broad shouldered and slim hipped and Della MacArthur, who I typedthis story from the lips of, said he was one of the most handsome men shehad ever seen.
