    • He came from Scotland and his parents were James D. Soctt and Ellen ?. Andrew was a farmer. In the 1850 census of Hamilton Township, Lee county, Illinois he is listed as 20 yeasrs of age. He must of just arrived in Lee county, Illinois before 1850. (JHL film #0007689) Andrew and Mary Jane were married in probably Amboy township, Illoinois. Her father was living in the Mormon colony of Palestine Grove which was just South of Amboy. (Harry D. Galley, Joseph Smith Seniors' Children, pg. 32) Lee County, Illinoius marriage D. A. R. copy (FHR call #977.336 V25d) Cemetery Records of Rose Hill cemetery, Died 12 June 1881 age 54 years 1 month 9 days. After Mary Jane died, in 1878, he re-marraied May 30, 1881, to Miss Carrie L. Grant of Stark County, Illinois. If this is a true fact, the couple were only married about two weeks before he died. Joseph Smith Seniors' Children, pg. 33
