    • He is buried in the MILLIKIN - NEWLAND family plot in Mt. Auburn cemetery, Colchester, Illinois; Lot 9 Block 3 in grave 4 going south and looking east at the main monument. In October 1927 he was living in Colchester, Illinois when his mother died. The Daily Journal, Macomb, Illinois, Monday, November 4, 1946, page 2, column 2: Retired Colchester Rural Mail Carrier Dies ... Howard Newland, retired rural mail carried, died at his residence in Colchester Saturday afternoon at 2:45. He was 63 years and two months old at the time of his death. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon at the Williams funeral home in Colchester, the Rev. R. W. VanAlstyne officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn cemetery. Newland was born Feb. 2, 1883 at Colchester to Isaac and Florence Newland, deceased. He was mail carried on Colchester rural routes for 38 years, having been retired in May, 1946. Surviving are his widow and the following children: Mrs. Charles Miller of Colchester, Paul Newland of Alexandria, Va., Carl Newland of Colchester, and tow grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home.
