Page Page 2 column 4 Personals Mrs. Sam Terrill and daughter, Jeanette of Canton, have been called here by the death of her mother Mrs. Isaac Newland. She is buried in the MILLIKIN - NEWLAND family plot Lot 9 Block 3 in the grave 5 going south looking east at the main monument. The Daily Journal, Macomb, Illinois, Saturday, February 29, 1936, page 2, column 7: Woman Passes Away ---- Canton, Ill. --- (Special) --- Mrs. Mary N. Terrill, 63 years old, South Main St. limits, died at 10:55 o'clock Friday morning in Graham hospital here. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, being a junior past worthy matron of Evening Star chapter No. 46. She also was past excellent chief of the Python Sisters, Laurel temple. She was a member of Bethesda Shrine No. 41, Royal Neighbors of America, and a member of the Ladies Art Club. She was born June 2, 1872, in Colchester, Ill., the daughter of Isaac and Florence Millikin Newland. She was married June 29, 1893, in Colchester to Samuel Terrill. She had lived in Canton for the past 25 years. Her husband operates a drug store on the north side of the square. Surviving are the husband; one daughter, Miss Jeanette Terrill, a teacher at the Canton High School and one brother, Howard Newland of Colchester. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church. The Rev. P. E. Newland of Galesburg, Ill., will be in charge. He will be assisted by Dr. F. E. Shult of Canton. Burial probably will be in Greenwood cemetery. (She was buried in Mt. Auburn cemetery, Colchester, McDonough county, Illinois with her husband in the Millikin - Newland family plot. HDG 2005) Canton Newspaper, Friday, February 28, 1936: Widely Known Canton Woman Death Victim --- Illness Which Developed Two Weeks Ago Fatal to Mrs. Mary N. Terrill --- Prominent In Club Activities --- Mrs. Mary N. Terrill, South Main Limits, widely-know Cantonian and a prominent worker in women's organizations, died at 10:55 o'clock this morning at the Graham hospital. Death resulted following an intestinal; obstruction which developed about two weeks ago. An operation was preformed early last week to relieve her condition, but, after marked improvement during the weekend, her heart weakened yesterday and her condition again became critical. Ever since she became ill, news of her progress had been followed anxiously by a host of friends, including members of the organizations with which she was identified. Eastern Star Leader Mrs. Terrill served as worthy matron of Evening Star chapter No. 46, Order Eastern Star in 1935, most excellent chief of Laurel temple No. 84, Pythain Sisters, and was a member of the Past Matrons and Past Patrons club and the Past Chiefs club. At the time of there death, she was chaplain of Evening Star chapter and second handmaid of Bethesda shrine No. 41, White Shire of Jerusalem, in which she had held office for a number of years. She also was a member of Cedar camp No. 90, Royal Neighbors of America, Ladies' Art club and an afternoon 500 club. Born June 2, 1872, in Colchester, a daughter of Isaac and Florence (Millikin) Newland, she was married June 29, 1893, at Colchester, to Samuel Terrill, who operates a drug store on the north side of the Square. Mr. and Mrs. Terrill have lived in Canton for 25 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Miss Jeannette N. Terrill, a member of the Canton High school faculty, and one brother, Howard Newland, Colchester. Her daughter succeeded her as worthy matron of Evening Star chapter. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church. The Rev. T. E. Newland, Galesburg, assisted by Dr. F. E.
