HALE Self M Male W 78 PA Farmer CT VT Nancy HALE Wife M Female W 75 NY Keeping House NY NY Source Information: Census Place Osceola, Polk, Wisconsin - 1880 Family History Library Film 1255442 Isaac was quite a sportsman in his younger years, 'chasing' deer and having many interesting encounters with timber wolves. In 1822 he was in the lumbering business on the Susquehanna River, until 1836 when he moved to Cattaraugus Co., NY. Here he piloted on the Ohio and Allegheny Rivers. He brought his family to Osceola, Polk County, Wisconsin in July of 1851. They came by boat, down the Ohio, than up the Mississippi to the St. Croix. He was known as "Judge Hale", as he was the first elected Judge of Polk County in 1853. He served for 8 years and was also the town Superintendent for 2 years. From 1852 to 1857 he bought 200 acres of land in section 26, Osceola Township In the 1888 Polk county Plat book he owned land in Osceola township section 26 157.5 acres (Cemetery; 2 parcels) He died at the home of his daughter, Esther, (Mrs. Edgar C. Treadwell) at age 90.
