- Local newspaper probably the Brookville paper Monday 24 February, 1986: Gertrude Blackburn Dies at Age 98 (Died 23 Feb 1986) Gertrude Mae Blackburn, 98, of 1309 North Main Street, died Dunday morning at brookfield Nursing Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rhodes Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Stan McDougal officiaitng. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. She was born May 29, 1887, in Linn County, to Jacob and Elizabeth (David) Fosher. Dec. 20, 1905, she married Sumner Blackburn. Suviving are a son, Marlin Blackburn, Sisters, Ore.; a daughter, Evelyn Shupe, Brookfield; a nephew, Jack Fosher, Houston; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grantchildren and several great grea t-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, July 23, 1953; two sisters, Leona Johnson and Katherine Wright and one brother, Ray Fosher. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Brookfield.
