    • Newspaper article probably in Brookfield, Missouri paper on Tuesday, May 8, 1979, (May 7,1979 is the death date): Eunice Blackburn Rites Wednesday (May 9, 1979) ... Funeral services for Eunice Lavina Blackburn, 84, Purdin, will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Purdin United Methodist Church, the Rev. Bob Gant officiating. Burial will be in Purdin Cemetery. Mrs. Blackburn died Monday at Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield. Eunice Lavina, daughter of William Riley and Mary Louisa Dearing Bales, was born Aug. 3, 1894 near Humphreys. On Sept. 8, 1912, she married William Harrison Blackburn. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Blackburn is survived by a son, Rex of Brookfield; three daughters, Catherine Oaks, Purdin; Helen Harmon, Brookfield; Mary E. Sproul, Platte City; 19 grandchildren; 22 great - grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Max, Harry, Myrle; an infant brother, John; a sister, Zura Downing. She was a member of the Purdin United Methodist Church and was a telephone operator in Purdin for 17 years. Friends may call at the Wright Funeral Home, Linneus. The family will receive vistors at the funeral home after 7 p. m. tonight.
