- BIOGRAPHY: The area which became the town of Concord was originally known as "Musketaquid", situated at the confluence of the Sudbury and Assabet rivers. The area was largely depopulated by the smallpox plague that swept across the Americas after the arrival of Europeans. In 1635, a group of settlers from Britain led by Rev . Peter Bulkley and Major Simon Willard negotiated a land purchase with the remnants of the local tribe. They exchanged wampum, hatchets, knives, cloth, and other useful items for the six-square-mile purchase which formed the basis of the new town, called "Concord" in appreciation of the peaceful acquisition.
William, Isaac's father, was an early settler of Concord. Isaac was born in Concord, but his birth was not recorded. His sister Hanna's birth was recorded (Hanna, d. William, 12: 12m: 1640) in Concord vital records. In William's will, eldest son Samuel is mentioned, along with sons Nehemiah and Isaac, and daughter Elizabeth Barns, in that order. Hannah is not mentioned and may have died young. It is quite likely, given his place in the will, that Isaac was the youngest son. His birth estimate of 1647 is based on a deposition he gave in 1670 stating that he was 23 years old.
Isaac's marriage is listed in Concord vital records:
Hunt, Isake, and Mary Stone, May 14, 1667. An indexed marriage record is attached below under Sources.
Isaac and Mary have several children listed in Concord vital records:
Hunt, Isacke, s. Isacke and Mary, Jan. 12, 1668.
Hunt, Hanna, d. Isack and Mary, June 5, 1670.
Hunt, Samewell, s. Isaac and Mary, Oct. 26, 1672.
Hunt, Isaac, s. Isaac and Mary, Nov. 18, 1675.
Hunt, Ebenesar, s. Isaac and Mary, July 2, 1677.
Unfortunately, Isaac died quite young. His death is listed in Concord vital records:
Hunt, Isaac, 12: 10m: 1680.
Son Isaac was able to have a relatively large family, but his other children had few or no children.
Isaac left behind several young children. His wife remarried after his death. Mary's second marriage is listed in Concord vital records:
Hunt, Mary, and Eliphalt Fox, 30: 9m: 1681. She had three sons with her second husband.
