    • John Evans, having performed valuable military service during the reign of Queen Elizabeth in aiding to suppress the Irish rebellion, obtained from the Crown a grant of land and emigrated from Carmarthenshire to Wales to Limerick, Ireland, where he was living before 1628. John married Ellen DeVerdon. He died in 1 Jan 1632, leaving two sons and three daughters.

      John’s eldest son, George Evans, represented Limerick in parliament for many years and died in 1707 having lived a most eventful life.

      John, the younger son, was a colonel in the English army. He married and had three sons; Simon, buried at Fanningtown, County Limerick, Ireland; William, who emigrated to America; and John, who is buried at Ballygrenane in County Limerick, Ireland.
