Notes |
- DEATH: I am looking at the copy of John Kendall Sr.,'s death certificate. He died on 5 October, 1842, at the age of 33. He was a painter. He died in an accident by fallng from 'a stage' which was actually a scaffold. DEATH: The plae of death was Southern Hospital. The record was regiserd in the sub-district of St. Thomas, Liverpool, County of Lancaster DEATH: We have this from Elaine Nichols research. She also sent me a copy of Elizabeth Agnes Kendall's birth record-- she was born 7 May 1843, Ulverstone, Lancaster, England. John Kendall, an elder in the LDS church, died in an accident before she was born. Her mother, Elizabeth Millican Kendall, followed through with the plans she and John had made. She, with her three children, John, Isabelle, and little 5 month old Lizzie, sailed from Liverpool, England, on the ship Metoka, leaving England in September and arriving at New Orleans on 27 October 1843. They arrived in Nauvoo sometime in the winter of 1843-1844. Her mother was befriended by Emma. She was an active member of the church in Nauvoo and received her endowment in the Nauvoo Temple 31 January, 1846. She did not go west with the exodus, but remarried in 1847, to Mathias Wellington. She had two children by him and died 30 September 1850. Her grave is marked by an upright standing triangular stone in the Old Nauvoo Cemetery. It is labeled, E. Wellington. Next time some of you visit that cemetery, you may enjoy knowing this. It is doubtful anyone would ever make this connection without having it pointed out to them.
